What You'll Do

We pick you up from the hotel and drive 40 minutes to the scenic jetty of Kampong Bako. From the jetty, you will take a 25-minute boat ride to the national park headquarters, situated in the Bako Peninsula. Bako is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in its natural surroundings, including Borneo’s signature long-nose proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, wild boars (bearded pig), snakes, and monitor lizards.

There are several trails inside the park depending on the group’s level of fitness and interest. The 16-square kilometers of forests are home to seven distinct ecosystems including beach vegetation, mangroves, and a peat swamp forest. Constant erosion over millions of years has turned the Bako coastline into a stunning geographical landmark with spectacular cliffs, sea stacks, and pristine sandy beaches.

This small-group tour includes a local lunch which is served at the national park canteen before the return boat trip back to the mainland. The boat trip offers more opportunities for wildlife spotting including estuary crocodiles and shorebirds. The day ends with a transfer back to your city hotel after reaching Kampong Bako jetty.

Float down an untouched stretch of the Sarawak River to discover hidden waterfalls, explore limestone formations, and take the opportunity to have a dip in the refreshing mountain water. At the halfway mark, explore how the locals farm and fish. This is where you get the chance to feed the fish in the river feeding grounds — a sustainable fish farming method that has been practiced for ages.

After the halfway point, continue to paddle leisurely and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the rainforest. This serene and smooth flowing river is a great place for friends and family to compete in races and water fights! When water levels permit, stop at a mini waterfall for swimming before ending the fantastic kayaking tour at the Kampong Semadang. Enjoy a well-earned lunch of local home-cooked cuisine at the kayaking base camp before heading back to the city.

We start early with a transfer to visit the Semenggoh Nature Reserve, a large enclosed area of rainforest which is home to endangered orangutans, rescued from captivity, and kept for rehabilitation. During the scheduled feeding time, some orangutans may descend from the rainforest to the lower branches of trees near the feeding platform. Those lucky few will be offered a wealth of facial expressions by mankind’s closest relative.

After feeding time, we take a 30-minute scenic drive to the majestic Fairy Cave filled with bats and impressive mountain chambers.

We then jump into the saddle to begin our mountain biking adventure! Head off-road to explore hidden gold mines and cycle through some spectacular limestone karst landscape. After the ride, we stop by the historical gold mining town of Bau for a well-deserved lunch before heading back to the city.

This unique bike tour covers 85% of Kuching’s “sights” as listed by the Lonely Planet, and much more!

Discover the hidden gems of Kuching, see our temples and monuments through the hidden lanes inside the heritage zone, and indulge in a variety of popular Sarawak street foods, drinks, and desserts! After a relaxing cruise across the Sarawak River on a traditional “sampan” boat, we will guide you through off-the-beaten-track routes of the rural Malay “kampong” and wooden bridges lining the banks of the great Sarawak River.

Along the way, you can explore the vibrant and exotic open-air market of Kubah Ria. Witness the vibrant color of tropical fresh fruits and vegetables, shop for local handicrafts at non-tourist prices, and discover a whole range of jungle produce including unique wild ferns, exotic vegetables, and plants. Open up your senses and discover the authentic Sarawak! You will go home with both your mind and soul enriched… and your stomach fulfilled!
