Over three days, explore Borneo’s culture and nature. Day 1 takes you from Kuching to Sri Aman with stops at local markets and a visit to Fort Alice. What You'll Do

On Day 01, depart at 9:00 AM from your hotel for a scenic 3-hour drive to Sri Aman. En route, visit Serian, a Dayak trading town, and explore its native market. Stop at Lachau Bazaar for lunch before continuing through lush rice fields, plantations, and rainforests. Arrive in Sri Aman to visit Fort Alice, a historical landmark. In the evening, enjoy a delicious local dinner before transferring to Seri Simanggang Hotel for an overnight stay. 

  • 09:00 hrs: Pick-up from your city hotel (location to be confirmed).
  • Depart for Sri Aman: Enjoy a scenic, 3-hour drive, with two stopovers along the way:
  1. Serian: Visit the native market in this predominantly Dayak trading town.
  2. Lachau Bazaar: Stop here for lunch and explore the local market.

As you travel, enjoy views of:

  • Rice fields
  • Rubber, pepper, and oil palm plantations
  • Lush tropical rainforests
  • Rivers and mountain ranges

Arrival at Sri Aman: Upon reaching Sri Aman Town, visit Fort Alice, a historical fort built during the Brooke era.

After enjoying a delicious local dinner, transfer to Seri Simanggang Hotel for overnight stay.

On Day 02, after breakfast, depart for a 2-hour drive to Batang Ai Jetty, followed by a 60-minute motorized longboat ride across Batang Ai Lake. Enjoy scenic views of rice fields, fish farms, and clear waters before arriving at Mengkak Longhouse, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by the natives. Explore the longhouse, watch traditional crafts being made, and participate in daily activities like feeding livestock or swimming in the river. After dinner, enjoy cultural performances and gift exchanges before retiring for the night at the longhouse.

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • 09:00 hrs: Depart for a 2-hour drive to Batang Ai Jetty.
  • From the jetty, board a motorized longboat for a 60-minute scenic ride across Batang Ai Lake, passing through rice fields, fish farms, and clear waters.
  • Arrive at Mengkak Longhouse, where you will receive a warm welcome from the natives.
  • Tour the longhouse and observe traditional crafts, including mat and basket weaving, as well as fish net mending. Join the natives in their daily activities, such as feeding livestock, washing clothes, swimming in the river, or relaxing by the riverbank.
  • Dinner at the longhouse, followed by a cultural experience with the locals, including a gift presentation and traditional performances.
  • Overnight stay at the Longhouse.

On Day 03, after breakfast, witness a cock-fighting and blowpipe demonstration before trekking through the forest to learn about jungle produce. Enjoy a native-style picnic lunch by the lake, then take a longboat ride back to the jetty. From there, transfer by van to Kuching and check in to your city hotel, concluding your cultural adventure.

  • Breakfast at the longhouse.
  • Witness an exciting cock-fighting and blowpipe demonstration.

Embark on a forest trek, learning about the forest and its produce. Make stops along the way to collect jungle items.

Continue the trek to a scenic spot by the lake for a traditional native-style picnic lunch.

  • After lunch, depart by longboat back to the jetty, then take a van ride back to Kuching.
  • Transfer to your city hotel for check-in.
