What You'll Do - 2 Day/1 Night

We’ll start this Borneo homestay tour by picking you up at your city hotel/hostel and then transfer you to the start of our adventure. We’ll begin by hiking uphill for 90min to a remote Highland Bidayuh Community, 1,500 ft above sea level, to see how the locals practice shifting cultivation. After checking in to the homestay, we’ll head off across the border and hike for an hour to one of the most remote villages in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan (no hassle with immigration or customs) where villagers live in very traditional multi-tiered houses and live solely on farming. Experience the warmth of these very friendly and simple villagers who seldom get to see foreigners coming to their village as the only access is by walking. Watch how kids pass their time playing football, spinning tops or swimming in the stream.

Hike back across the border to the homestay on the Sarawak side for a sumptuous dinner cooked in traditional style. Chill out at the tanju or join the locals for a beer at their favorite village ‘pub’. Pass the night enjoying the best ‘tuak’ in the world specially brewed by the host himself

Your village experience continues the next day after breakfast with a hike to a waterfall at another nearby village 90 min away. Have a tour of the village after lunch and visit homes with collections of petrified wood before hiking downhill back to civilization! We’ll then transfer you back to your hotel/hostel and say our goodbyes.

What You'll Do - 3 Day/2 Night

After we’ve picked you up at your city hotel/hostel, we will then transfer to the start point of the tour. Starting one of the most remote Borneo trekking tours around, we will begin our adventure with a 90min walk to a remote Highland Bidayuh Community, 1,500 ft above sea level, to see how the locals practice shifting cultivation. Step over the border peg and head off across the border and hike for an hour to one of the most remote villages in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan (no hassle of immigration or customs) where villagers live in very traditional multi-tiered houses and survive on farming.

Experience the warmth of the very friendly villagers who seldom get to see foreigners coming to their village as the only access is by walking. Watch how the local children pass their time playing football, spinning tops or swimming in the refreshing stream. There is an additional option to help teach children English with the use of posters in the evening after dinner.

We will then stay overnight on the Indonesian side before our second day’s activity begins.  We’ll start with a hike over two hills to explore a fascinating twin waterfall where you can enjoy your lunch in the beautiful jungle surroundings. A traditional lunch cooked in bamboo will be served (weather permitting) and afterwards, we’ll hike across the border and return to the Sarawak homestay for the second night before dusk for a sumptuous dinner cooked in traditional style.

Chill out at the tanju or join the locals for a beer at their favorite village ‘pub’. Pass the night enjoying the best ‘tuak’ (rice wine) in the world, specially brewed by the host himself. The third and final day activity will see more hiking downhill to another nearby village on the Sarawak side where lunch will be served after chilling out at another waterfall closeby.  In this village, guests will visit homes that have collections of petrified wood before hiking downhill back to civilization!
