The quaint, picturesque and tranquil villages along the banks of Sarawak River are a delight to explore–and the best way to do it is by bicycle! Come join us for a safe and fun sightseeing loop bike ride through the heart of Kuching’s oldest Malay settlements, featuring iconic historical landmarks and breathtaking cityscapes at sunset and by night.

The Sia Sitok Group Cycling Tour, is a welcoming, inclusive, 14km-slow-pace, social distancing bike ride to show people of all biking abilities where they can feel most comfortable riding a bike through the backroads of Kuching.

The ride starts off in the evening at the Paradesa Borneo office, from which we will briefly go through some traffic before we reach the Old State Mosque. The journey to the villages begins there: from a little-known pathway behind the mosque which leads to a long stretch of villages along the riverbank. The river is a major part of the whole ride. We cross it twice on two iconic bridges — the newly-reconstructed Suspension Bridge and the Darul Hana Bridge. We also travel along the river by boat for a while as we take in the stunning sunset cityscapes from the water.

Grab a few friends, family members or join with others and sign-up for the Guided, Small Group Ride where an experienced bike tour leader personally guides the group along the beautiful backroads. This tour is a full cycling tour service including bicycle mechanical support and support vehicles to assist riders during the ride. Each small group decides upon a comfortable, slow pace for the ride.

About the Route

  • Riding difficulty : Peanuts. Seriously.
  • 14 Kms – Flat, with easy slopes.

The cycling terrain on this tour is all on sealed roads, except for a very short portion of grass/gravel path that is easy to tackle.

Traffic is considerably light in the villages, though it can be quite busy at the first part in the city centre. But rest assured, we have a very capable team in charge of safety, all trained to ensure you have the best possible cycling experience, even on busy roads.

Whilst cycling is done at a relaxed pace you need to be alert for surprises along the way such as unexpected un-surfaced road sections, potholes, vehicles and people.

This tour is suitable for those looking for some cycle friendly routes with some modest climbs.
