We had a great time with Paradesa Borneo on our Kayak tour! After it being such a great experience, we decided to book our Bako National Park visit with them, too. Both trips were amazing!

About Your Guide
Our community guides are local and are well trained friendly professionals who give simple safety instructions as well as basic paddling techniques at the beginning of the trip. The guides are happy to provide local knowledge of the Semadang River and its landscape so that you will have plenty of information about your journey in these beautiful waters, and at the same time ensure safety and great FUN on the river!
What You'll Do
The day starts off with a relaxing visit to the wonderful Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary as feeding time approaches. Enclosed in a large area of lush rainforest, the sanctuary is home to an array of endangered Orangutans who have been rescued from captivity & are now part of a successful rehabilitation programme. In response to the calls of the resident park rangers during the scheduled feeding time, these amazing primates will descend from the canopy to the lower branches of trees near the feeding area. This gives us the chance to see them at fairly close quarters which for many is the wildlife highlight of their Borneo trip.
After the feeding time, we continue our journey to the start of our Borneo kayaking adventure. We hop into a kayak on the Sarawak Kiri River and the current will carry you downstream toward Kampung Semadang. You’ll drift past massive limestone formations and dense forestry on either bank. At the halfway point, you’ll have the chance to stop at a Bidayuh tribe’s village to explore how the native’s farm and fish and you can also try to cross the village’s scary looking swinging suspension bridge that the local community still uses for their everyday activities. Lunch is served here by the river or by the beach while you are sunbathing!
After lunch, we’ll continue to paddle leisurely and savor the peace and tranquillity of the rainforest. This serene and smooth flowing river is a great place for friends and family to compete in a fun race and water fights. When water level permits, stopover at a mini waterfall for swimming and river fish feeding before ending the fantastic kayaking tour at the Kampung Semadang.
Join us for this full-day family-friendly tour to enjoy one of the most popular day trips and excursion in Kuching to explore the pristine wilderness of the Borneo rainforest from the vantage point of a river as well as witnessing the natural wonder of the orangutan.

See What Our Guests Are Saying
On our second day we went to visit the Semenggoh Orangutan Reserve, which was definitely a highlight of our tour. Our guide Baku took us to a Longhouse and then we kayaked 12kms down a river which was magical. The stunning beauty of the area was on display and we really enjoyed hearing Baku talk about the different uses of plants in the area and then taking us into experience a natural waterfall. I must also say that the ‘simple’ lunch he offered was absolutely delicious and we loved the variety and local offerings. Also thank you for considering my 8 year old daughter and giving her, her own special meal of Nasi Lemek which was definitely very sweet. We had an amazing time.
We enjoyed a great kayak tour near Kutching, the tour also included a visit to the orang utang center Semenggoh and a longhouse Annah Rais. The tour was well organised and in small group. Good drivers and guides, simple but tasty lunch. The kayak tour was in the afternoon and took us through 11 km of beautifull quiet landscape. The tour was not too difficult, even for the kids 10-13. They very much loved the adventure and swimming in the river. Thank you for this great tour!
We participated in trips with paradesa in Kuching two days in a row with Orangutans and Kayaking the first day and off road biking and Fairy Cave the second day. The advertised content of the trips perfectly matched what we experienced. We were lucky to see nearly 10 orangutans on the day we were there and the subsequent Kayak trip was at a nice comfortable pace with a good impression of the rain forest from the riverside.
Because we were so happy with our first tour, we went back to Paradesa Borneo to organise our next trip which was the orangutan and kayaking. This was my girls favourite day. We had another brilliant guide called Beko. The orangutans were magical and the kayaking down the river was the highlight of our whole trip. We kayaked in warm, torrential rain, we swam in the river, we kayaked into small caves, we stopped at a small village for Kolo Mee and delicious fruit. We felt safe, were comfortable in the mini bus and will never forget this day!
